Drinking Responsibly

What a great time of year... exams are done, Summer is here and another year of university is over. "Kick back" season is about to begin. But hang on! This year's Kick back season 2009 is about to take on a very different feel...did you know that Ontario's drinking and driving laws are about to change? Effective May 1st
any driver caught with a blood alcohol concentration level above .05% BAC,but lower than the criminal level of .08% BAC, will receive a 3-day suspension. And that's not all...along with your suspension will come a possible car impoundment, $150 reinstatement fee and an infraction on your driver's abstract. You can be sure that the long arm of insurance will soon know who their risky clients are.

No problem you say..."I never drink and drive." That's the kind of thing we LOVE to hear! But, even folks that do everything right can inadvertently trigger a short-term suspension. A night of partying can result in some pretty high BAC levels and sleeping it off doesn't always reduce your level enough to make you safe to drive. Think twice before a night of partying and make sure you avoid the "morning after the night before" act, once and for all.
