This unit is comprised of frontline police officers who are trained to liaise with organizations and employees involved in labour disputes. The role of the police at labour disputes is to preserve the peace, enforce the law and guarantee the free flow of traffic on public highways. Equally important is their responsibility to ensure that all affected parties - management, union representatives, and the public - are able to exercise their legal rights. Strike liaison officers are required to maintain neutrality and impartiality at all times and with all parties to a labour dispute.
