Keeping Guelph Safe ... Together.

The South End Emergency Services Station

The SEESS will encompass shared facilities for Police, Fire and EMS staff, vehicles and equipment which will be necessary to provide emergency service coverage to the south end of the City. The facility accommodates office facilities for day time staffing of 45 police personnel, including Media Relations, School Officers, Traffic Unit and a Collision Reporting Centre. EMS will have administrative offices for 7 staff in addition to facilities for an EMS crew of 7 operating 2 vehicles 24/7, and 1 vehicle 12/7. Guelph Fire will have facilities designed for 2 crews of 4 fire fighters operating 24/7.

The project will feature facilities for public use. These include a Collision Reporting Centre, a Community Room with attached kitchen, a "safe haven" vestibule that has access to emergency dispatch for persons in distress, and be fully barrier-free accessible. The facility incorporates solar panels for water heating, on-site green power generation through a roof-mounted wind turbine, and rainwater harvesting for Fire Department apparatus testing. The project will seek LEED Gold certification from the Canadian Green Building Council.
