Civil Emergencies

The Civil Emergency Unit of the police service is comprised of officers and civilians trained in various functions so that the service can properly respond to any city emergency. These can sometimes be the result of a natural disaster such as a tornado. The police service has police officers trained to work in an Emergency Operations Centre as well as officers trained in site management and basic emergency management. Civilian members also receive scribe training so that they can be called upon to assist police in an emergency. The members assigned to this unit also take part in annual exercises that usually require response by a number of city services which could include fire, public works, etc.
